Hello
I'm Val! I'm a fully insured Polestar Mat & Reformer Pilates Practitioner.
With 15 years of personal Pilates practice under my belt, I am excited to share how it has positively impacted my day-to-day life.
You can find me in my home studio in London SE8 or Online (check out the Book Online page). I am also at The Reformery on Sundays and Ankor Pilates on Wednesdays.
My Story
As an ex-"corporate girl", Pilates entered my life in a predictable way: "The Sore Back!"
I used to spend long hours hunched over my laptop, working at every opportunity, on trains, in hotel rooms, and even at the café at the gym—answering emails on Sunday mornings instead of going swimming. That was me!
Throughout my late 30s, a heat pack was a constant companion firmly attached to my lower back. When the symptoms spread to my neck, one of my colleagues took me to a Pilates class, and as they say, the rest is history!
I found Pilates to be soothing for my busy mind - you can't think about work when you're listening to cues and focusing on executing the movements. And, of course, I found relief in both my neck and ultimately my lower back. Now, I am symptom-free, although I still do a lot of Pilates!
A few years ago, that same friend and I decided to pursue our Mat Certification. We chose Polestar Pilates, an internationally renowned Pilates school. Polestar focuses on whole-body wellness, using science-based techniques and intelligent movement. In 2023, I continued my training by successfully completing my Reformer Certification with Polestar. I teach in English but also in French!
And now, here I am, teaching and sharing the goodness of Pilates full-time. My own health challenge has given me a unique insight into why Pilates can improve your well-being. My past life as a Telco Consultant means I have excellent communication skills and a first-hand understanding of the mental stresses that a fast, busy life can bring upon us.
My ethos in life is to have fun, and I am convinced that the movements and focus that Pilates brings will allow you to be a happier version of yourself. I hope to have fun on the mat or on the reformer (albeit in a secure and safe way) with you very soon, either in a One-to-One session or in a Group Class, or even both!
Happy Pilates!
Valx
PS: Ozzie, the Australian Mist Cat, had to make it in here. He is my official Pilates Assistant and will undoubtedly make an appearance on the mat.
